Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Academy

This academy will teach those who may arrive on an emergency scene first and provide the necessary skills to support and treat medical emergencies.

This academy is designed for security guards, firefighters, police officers, other public safety personnel and the general public.

The academy is based on curricula set fourth by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).  Upon successful completion of the EMR course the applicant will be required to successfully pass the National Registry Exam for EMR's.

Academy Length:  Minimum 60 classroom hours required by MDHHS and 8 hours clinical

Academy Tuition:  $300.00 (does not include books and materials)

Clinical Objectives:  8 hours observation with STAT EMS ambulance with Field Training Officers (FTO) staff.

Prerequisites:  Must be 18 years or older upon completion of the Academy.  Other prerequisites as designated by the specific course syllabus.

Academy Times: February 16 - April 29, Tuesday/Thursday day class 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Location: 500 West Court Street, Flint, MI 48503. 

Certification:  Certificate of completion and eligibility to write the NREMT Certification Exam and apply for an MDHHS EMR License.
